Glen Haven Canning Co. - Print
This is the first piece I ever made. You may be able to tell based on the style, which is a bit different from the rest of my Northern Michigan collection. The artwork is of Glen Haven Canning Company, which sits on the shore of Lake Michigan, once used to process fruit and ship it to market.
I started to hunt for colors in the local newspaper to create a place I treasured seeing each summer. The bright blue sky sourced from a torn advertisement in the local Glen Arbor Sun newspaper perfectly captures Michigan's cool summer days. The hues of red were cut and arranged to construct the building, which now is a boat museum, and the uniquely shaped trees and their shades of green take me right back to being at my favorite place.
